Reminder: 3 Monthly Tag Colour Changeover 1st March 2020
Are you using designated 3 monthly tag colour coded system in your workplace?
Appliances used on construction and demolition sites in Victoria are required to be test and tagged every three months and follow a tag colour coded system.
The current tag colour from 1st March 2020 is GREEN and applies to 31 May 2020.
Some sites might apply a “grace period” of one week either side of the change over date. Advise we received from Worksafe Vic indicated they are satisfied provided it has not been more than 3 months since the appliance was last checked and the correct tag colour was attached at that time.
RCDs used on these sites are also subject to strict testing requirements that can range from monthly to three monthly intervals. This includes RCDs in site shed, inbuilt to Portable Socket Outlet assemblies (PSOAs), generators, inline on power tools etc. Click here for more information.
The building industry standard “Electrical Installations on Construction Sites” details all the requirements. It identifies that testing of electrical appliances and RCDs can be conducted by
- A licensed electrician
- A licensed electrical inspector
- A competent person
Inspection and testing must be carried out in accordance with the standard AS/NZS 3760.
